Black Diamond SPOT 400-R RECHARGEABLE HEADLAMP

I don’t know what it is about headlamps, but I love ‘em.  I have too many, and I’ve previously had to cut myself off from buying new lights.  Then, I was on a trip and each of my headlamps and lanterns conspired to stop working at the same time.  I was forced to rely on a windup lantern for our last night of the trip.

When I got home, I decided to break my treaty blockading the purchase of new headlamps.  I needed a rechargeable lamp!

I have two Black Diamond Spot 400 lamps, and they are perfect for work in dark spaces, like attics and cars.  They have been my go-to torch for camping, and they serve impeccably for night climbing.  Buying the Spot 400-R was really a no brainer.

The features I appreciate most are the recycled elastic headband.  Not only is it produced from recycled material, but it’s also as comfortable as any headband could be.  It comes with a built-in battery meter, so you know when and if you’ll need to charge it up.  One charge lasted me an entire weekend, with plenty of power to spare.  The PowerTap technology that allows you to adjust brightness with a single tap is an amazing feature as well.  Aside from being rechargeable, my other favorite facet is that SPOT 400-R is completely waterproof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes.  No need to worry the next time you plop into a lake or river for a late-night dip!

The color options aren’t the most exciting, but the Optical Yellow is a color I can absolutely get behind!
