On brand!

Just taking a chance to shout out some of our newest shirts.

Earlier this year we started to design and sell shirts on Etsy.  It has been a real learning experience in terms of organizing how to open an Etsy Shop, track sales, and make sure that orders end up where they are supposed to go.

We haven’t made a ton of sales, but orders have been coming in.  Etsy is kind of weird in that they have to make their bag of profit from allowing sellers to use their platform to make sales.  I suppose it’s like leasing a brick-and-mortar building to set up shop, but instead of making monthly payments, you pay for each sale.  After Etsy’s cut, you pay for the product (shirt or sweater), printing, and shipping.

We can’t imagine someone buying a t-shirt for $50, so we set our prices as low as possible in relation to time spent on the producing the product.  Once all is said and done, we make about $5 per item.  To get rich selling shirts on Etsy, you need to sell an actual ton of clothes.  Our ultimate hope is to cover the price of the website/podcast/design tools.  We aren’t there yet, but as word gets out, hopefully we get into the green!

That being said, as you could have guessed, we specialize in climbing and philosophy shirts.  Our biggest order to date was a custom modification on our Red Herring Fallacy shirt.  A production company putting on a play called Red Herring ordered the shirt with the theater name printed on the back for the entire crew.  We offered a 25% discount at the time, so we only made about $1/shirt.  But it was still cool to see that many shirts sold at once.

So, while this isn’t the typical DIHEDRAL article, we do appreciate you humoring us while we try to get the word out about what we have to offer in addition to writing about climbing, philosophy, and nonsense.

We try to add a few new options to our collections every month.  Hopefully we hit upon something that takes off like a Stanley Cup at a Jr. High.  Again, we’re not there yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

If you ever need any custom designs, or twists on our current offerings, just say the word, and we’ll be happy to work with you to make your t-shirt and hoodie dreams come true!

If you see something that you like we set up a coupon code for our readers that is good for 25% off.  Just type in DIHEDRAL25 while checking out, and you’ll be good to go!

Thank you again for humoring us!!!
