So, I talked to you already about what holds match your personality. Today we are going to match types of pets to an equivalent type of holds.
Jugs- Jugs are like goldfish because it’s pretty much the first hold on the easiest routes that you will use when you first enter a gym. In a similar fashion, goldfish are most peoples first pet. They are easy to take care of and easy get at any time.
Pinches- Pinches are like cats because climbers who like pinches, they really like them! When pinches aren’t good, they really aren’t good. Cats are for good some people, but not everyone is a fan. They may not always give the affection you want when you want it. It’s only on their time. Kinda like pinches, sometimes they’re there for you and other times they are not.
Slopers- Slopers are like having a turtle because you got to hold them a certain way or you get bit or in climbing terms you fall. Turtles require a little bit more work with water and tank maintenance, just like it requires a little bit more work to put the weight of your body into those slopers. Turtles come in different sizes like slopers, so you got to know the correct way to interact depending on the turtle or sloper.
Crimps- Crimps are like household birds because you need to give them constant attention. Parrots and other type of household birds need constant interaction and live a long time. So, just like crimps you need to always practice and climb crimps because it will take time for your fingers to get strong enough to hold your body positions. Routes that have crimps are generally difficult so you will need to keep working on them. Parrots are similar because you’re always teaching them something new to say or do and it takes time. They never get it right away just like most climbers and crimps. Most important is the time you put into them.
Pockets- Pockets are like lizards because if you don’t have good control right away you might miss your chance to hold on or catch the pocket while you are moving up a route. Lizards require good knowledge of how to place your hands and fingers because they could slip right out of your hand if you don’t know how to position them. Just like you need to do on pockets!
I hope you had fun matching holds with Pets that you may or may not have. I hope next time you are holding one of these animals or on the wall climbing you think about this article, and you have a good laugh or thought of a pet you’ve had or have.
