Q&A with Davina Christy

What do you do for a living?

I am a cosmetologist, professional clown, and realtor (FL).

How did you get into doing hair?

I grew up competing in pageants and cheer/dance competitions, so doing hair and makeup was always a regular part of my routine. Working behind the chair just made sense for me.

How long have you been a professional clown?

I have been working as a professional clown since I was 16 years old.

How did you get into becoming a professional clown?

My little sister was diagnosed with a bone infection when she was 4 years old and ended up being hospitalized. I was 10 years old at the time and wanted to cheer her up, so I decided to dress up like a clown and take her lots of goodies. She loved it! That is the day Cheerios the Clown was born.

What is your favorite part of being a cosmetologist? And why?

Being a hair stylist is more than a job for me, it’s my passion. I love being able to channel my creative side while making a positive impact on others. There is something special about the relationships I’ve built with clients and having the opportunity to share many of life’s significant milestones with them. My job is a true privilege.

What is the best advice to anybody who wants to be a cosmetologist one day? And why?

Being a cosmetologist is not all glam and glitter! It requires a lot of hard work and long hours behind the chair, but it’s a very rewarding career. If you put in the effort and take classes to further your skills, you will find success in this business.

If you could have one hairstyle the rest of your life, what would it be? And why?

Space buns! I love wearing my hair up and out of my face, and they make me feel super cute and young at heart.

What made you want to apply to Extracted Season 1?

I’ve always loved watching competition reality shows. I was in high school in 1999 when Survivor first aired and immediately knew in my heart I would do something like that one day. I applied to Extracted because I was chasing a dream 17-year-old me had.

What was your favorite part of being on Extracted Season 1? And why?

The actual adventure itself. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. We were given very little information, but I said yes to the unknown and it was the opportunity of a lifetime. From building a raft to sleeping alone in the pitch black, every part of it was an adrenaline rush.

What was the toughest part of being on Extracted Season 1? And why?

Being alone. I was starving and thirsty, but the loneliness is what took me out. I craved social connection, and the isolation made every fear feel bigger.

Best advice for someone applying to be on future seasons of Extracted?

Go for it! Say yes, be yourself, share your story, and let your light shine. Life is short — chase big adventures.

What other competition shows would you want to compete on? And why?

Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race.

What is your favorite reality competition show to watch at home? And why?

Survivor. I’ve watched every season for the past 26 years. I love how it brings people together from all walks of life.

If you competed on Extracted again, what famous person would you want to compete with? And why?

Jeff Probst. I’d love to see how he would do surviving on his own — plus, it would be fun to build a shelter with him.

What is one personal item you can’t survive without? And why?

A gold heart pendant with my dad’s thumbprint. I lost my dad to Covid, and it’s a constant reminder he’s always with me.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? And what would you do there?

South Africa. I want to go on a safari and see wildlife in their natural habitat.

What do you like to do for fun? And why?

I love the beach, collecting shark teeth, and reading. The beach is my stress reliever.

What is your go-to survival snack? And why?

Popcorn and pizza (not together). I’m a salty over sweet person.

What is one thing people would be surprised to find out about you?

I’m only 5 ft tall.

What social media handles can people find you on?
