Dino Ruggeri is originally from Grosse Pointe Michigan, he earned his degree in environmental studies from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. From there he moved to Colorado where he spent time climbing and skiing as well as working as a children’s ski instructor at the Telluride Ski Resort. He has since moved back home to Michigan where he continues to volunteer and mentor kids at the Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit and is now proudly opening Detroit’s first climbing gym DYNO Detroit, in Detroit’s historic Eastern Market.
We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to speak with Dino on the latest episode of theDIHEDRAL Podcast. Link HERE (theDIHEDRAL Podcast can also be found on most podcast platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.)
Speaking with Dino and being able to share and spotlight his dream of expanding the climbing community was an honor. Dino and the values of DYNO Detroit promote active inclusivity in a way that few gyms have aspired to do . He is inspirational in both his words and his actions.
DYNO is going to be one of the world’s sickest gyms for reasons that include but go well beyond the walls. It was a privilege to speak with the owner of Detroit’s first climbing gym, and we cannot wait to hit these walls in person!
We hope you’ll join us by listening in and welcoming DYNO to Detroit and the world of indoor climbing.
For more info on DYNO Detroit, you can check out the website (Complete with virtual tour), and you can follow them on Instagram and Facebook (Complete with daily updates).

I’ve been to one of the camps. I slept in my car. I found it to be calm, peaceful, creative and well organised without one person telling others what they need to be doing. Quite the opposite happening just the other side of a fence, ignorant minions being directed to carry out destruction. This is our Amazon, our trees, our nature being felled.

I have seen Greta make some comments about this, but it is so much more touching when you hear stories from the ground!
That is so cool that you went!!!
