Moving on Up!

Well guys here’s my goodbye letter to Houston…for the future! Gotcha! My wife and I (Coach Max) have talked and plan to move to Florida in the future close or in Orlando specifically! It is not a matter of IF it’s a matter of WHEN we move! But until then I decided to talk about possible jobs that I can work at when we do move! My wife who is a licensed cosmetologist would love to work at the salon/boutique at Walt Disney World and I either work at Disney too or the closest rock climbing gym. But what other options could I do for work, maybe coach kids ninja warrior like I used to or just something else. Let’s explore some future job options for me…

Here is the top five rock climbing gym and a little bit about them. I do have the most experience and reputation working at the rock climbing gym I’m at now that would transfer over skills and knowledge wise I would hope!

  • High Point Climbing & Fitness (Orlando) – A large, modern climbing gym offering bouldering, top rope, lead climbing, auto belays, fitness equipment, and a wide variety of routes for all skill levels.
  • Central Rock Gym (Orlando) – A state-of-the-art facility with excellent route setting, extensive bouldering and roped climbing, and a strong community focused on climbing progression.
  • ROX Climbing Gym (Lake Nona) – Located inside Lake Nona Performance Club, this gym features bouldering, top rope, lead climbing, auto belays, and quality instruction in a clean, modern space.
  • Blue Swan Boulders (Orlando) – A dedicated bouldering gym known for creative problems, training boards, and a welcoming community for beginners and experienced climbers alike.
  • Aiguille Rock Climbing Center (Longwood) – Orlando’s longest-running climbing gym, offering top rope, bouldering, auto belays, youth programs, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

So there are many options that I could apply and possibly work at, I would try to bring that fun community vibe I try to bring to Inspire, but no other gym can compare to that morning crew.
I also have my experience of competing and creating and coaching kids ninja warrior team and kids, so let’s look at the options for ninja warrior as possibilities!

  • Obstacle Ninja Academy – Orlando’s premier American Ninja Warrior training facility, featuring over 15,000 square feet of obstacles, open gym sessions, competitions, and classes for both kids and adults.
  • USA Ninja Challenge – Ocoee – A youth-focused ninja gym offering structured obstacle training that builds strength, agility, confidence, and coordination in a fun, progressive environment.
  • Urban Ninja Parkour – A Longwood-area gym specializing in parkour and ninja warrior obstacle training with programs for beginners through advanced athletes.
  • Ninja Squad – An Apopka-based ninja training gym offering obstacle-focused classes designed to develop balance, grip strength, and overall athleticism.
  • Planet Obstacle – A large indoor adventure park in Lake Mary featuring ninja warrior obstacles alongside ropes courses, climbing attractions, and other active challenges for all ages.

Now it’s about Universal and Disney opportunities that would fit what I have history of that would be possible jobs for me! I mean come on that’s a customer service persons dream meeting and working with people from all over the world, I would love it!

Universal Orlando Resort

  • Team Member – Universal Volcano Bay Attractions – Oversee water attractions while ensuring guest safety, delivering engaging guest experiences, and responding quickly in active environments.
  • Entertainment Operations Team Member – Support live shows, special events, and guest interactions where coaching, communication, and leadership skills are highly valued.
  • Youth Programs or Camp Counselor – Lead recreational activities, teach new skills, and supervise children using the same instructional techniques developed through climbing coaching.
  • Resort Recreation Attendant – Facilitate recreational activities, games, and family events while creating memorable guest experiences in Universal’s hotels.
  • Trainer or Leadership Development (Internal Promotion) – After gaining park experience, use your coaching background to train and mentor new team members.

Walt Disney World Resort

  • Recreation Host/Hostess – Lead activities at Disney resorts including games, sports, family events, and outdoor recreation while creating magical guest experiences.
  • Children’s Activities Counselor – Supervise and teach children through structured recreational programs using the same patience, safety awareness, and instruction required in climbing.
  • Lifeguard (Water Parks & Resorts) – Combine safety leadership, quick decision-making, and guest interaction in one of Disney’s most respected frontline recreation roles.
  • Park Greeter or Attractions Cast Member – Deliver exceptional guest service, manage attraction operations, and keep guests safe while creating memorable experiences.
  • Learning & Development (Internal Career Path) – After building experience, transition into training Cast Members, where your background in teaching and coaching becomes a major advantage.

So there are many opportunities within the realm of what I have experience in, but I would love what my wife and I talked about the most is a stay at home dad in Orlando. So much to do with my son while I home school him from theme parks, climbing gyms, ninja classes and it’s Florida so a beach is somewhere close! So maybe one day I will no longer be an Inspire manager/Director of Rec. I will have a different job title! So stay tuned I promise I will tell you guys when I move!
