Dyno Dunk Contest

Dyno dunk contest…

So if you are a basketball fan you know about the NBA dunk contest, it has gotten worse over the years to be honest. The dunk contest has lost a lot of the spark it used to have with MJ and Dominque Wilkins, and honestly Mac McClung! But I was thinking what if there was a dyno dunk contest every year with some of the best dynamic climbers! Now I was thinking this because NBA legend Shaq created and just had his own Dunkman league where it was tournament style dunk contest with some of the best dunkers all over the world a couple college hoopers, a couple influencer dunkers, and a couple NBA dunkers. The Dunkman contest brought out creativity and love for a dunk contest we as basketball fans have been missing. The process I was thinking is 8-10 of the best dynamic climbers indoor and outdoor competing against each other in a tournament style contest. They each have two dynos each round, but like the dunk contest props can be added, people and anything else they want to do to add into their dynos for that round! Now the setup would be simple a big jug down below and a big jug about 5-6 feet above. The judges would be 3 legendary climbers that everybody knows of course. Now this was difficult but I tried to compose a group of competitors for the first dyno dunk contest, let me know what you think…

  1. Jan Hojer 🇩🇪 — Probably one of the first names that comes to mind for huge, explosive dynos. His competition climbing is famous for powerful movement and massive jumps.
  2. Tomoa Narasaki 🇯🇵 — Incredible power, coordination, and ability to launch through modern comp-style dynamic sequences.
  3. Jongwon Chon 🇰🇷 — Extremely explosive and precise, particularly on coordination-heavy boulders.
  4. Adam Ondra 🇨🇿 — An exceptionally versatile climber who combines power, precision, and dynamic movement at an elite level. He’s also one of the world’s most accomplished rock climbers overall.
  5. Jernej Kruder 🇸🇮 — Known for powerful outdoor bouldering and some seriously impressive dynamic movement. He has climbed Three Degrees of Separation, a route featuring an especially famous four-point dyno.
  6. Daniel Woods 🇺🇸 — Legendary boulderer with tremendous explosive power and a long history of hard, powerful problems.
  7. Jimmy Webb 🇺🇸 — One of the strongest outdoor boulderers ever, with an aggressive style that translates extremely well to dynamic movement.
  8. Shauna Coxsey 🇬🇧 — Elite competition boulderer known for powerful movement and excellent dyno technique; she has even produced dedicated instruction on dynos and dynamic climbing.

Now I would love to see what creative dynos that these climbers would come up with and their twist on a climbing move that most climbers hate to do themselves but would love to see other people do. Let me know in the comments if you want this to become a reality!
