For this group post, we wanted to test our creativity and organize a fantastic trip to the crag with a special and select group of people… Cartoons! We all have had a fiction character that has taken possession of our hearts or that has inspired us to be better, funnier, wittier. Perhaps, a cartoon that has made us wish we had their super power? Whatever the influence, we accept it!
Let’s see what it takes to join theDIHEDRAL crew to a fantasy based climbing trip 😀
Gaia:
Toph Beifong: Hello! If you are as remotely as obsessed with Avatar: The last Airbender (cartoon, please…We don’t speak about the movie here) as I am, then you KNOW that the BEST earth bender of their universe HAS to make it to the crag. Not only would she be a great asset because of her bending abilities, but she would also be the best person to tell you when you’re screwing up! I must warn that Toph has a sarcastic and blunt sense of humor, so I guess her companionship is not for the faint of heart. However, no trip would be complete without a master bender and, potentially, master of the crag!
Susie Carmichael: I’m sorry to say this but… Susie is the BEST character of Ruggrats! Her soft demeanor yet fierce personality make her the most unconditional character of the show. She is supportive, comforting, and -at the same time- a fierce fighter. You can always count on Susie to stand up for the rest when an injustice is taking place. I don’t know about you, but I would not only love to have Susie as a crag mate, but as a life-long friend.

High-Clip:
Scooby-Doo: Do I even need to explain? Scoob is the ultimate crag dog. He can sniff out monsters (of climbs), run super fast, and always wants a snack. Plus, he can talk!
Angel: Of course I need my favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel series character (in his comic form, no less). He’s such a stand-up guy. He’d protect me and the crew from anybody, and would make a really safe belayer. Imagine having a belayer with perfect reflexes who won’t tire from you hangdogging.

Carrot:
For me, hand selecting a climbing crew is more about meshing than climbing. Would it be great to have some 5.14 crusher giving beta on a climbing trip? Yes! But if that crusher can’t carry a conversation, or at least bring some good snackies, then I’d gladly trade them in for a reusable spork and a jar of peanut butter! Speaking of peanut butter…
Mr. Peanutbutter: High-Clip was onto something with a talking crag dog, and so what’s better than one talking crag dog? Two talking crag dogs! Mr. Peanutbutter has all the qualities one would desire for a crew. He’s super nice, and he’s a dog! That is really all you need, but as a bonus, Mr. Peanutbutter is loaded, energetic, giving, and if he were cheese, he would go perfectly on a taco, because he is shredded!
While Schtroumpf Gourmand is only three apples high, he would make the perfect compliment to any climbing squad. Better known as Greedy Smurf, this tiny blue humanoid is the village gourmet chef. Greedy is an aggregate of Chef Smurf and Baker Smurf from the original Smurfs Comic, and despite his misleading name Greedy actually enjoys making and sharing his gourmet delectibles with all of his friends. Imagine struggling on a sufferfest, and coming down to a wee blue friend in a tiny toque blanche offering mini-desserts and confections. Schtroumpf Gourmand you are welcome any time! (Bonus: He would barely take up any car space)

Casen:
Wallaby “Wally” Beetles: When I was a kiddo, my parents didn’t let me watch shows on Cartoon Network. That made it all the more exciting when they weren’t home and I was able to watch my favorite Cartoon Network show, Codename: Kids Next Door. Wally is the hand to hand combat expert within a group of super agent children, fighting against adults from their backyard tree house. While he may be a bit impulsive, Wally is a loyal and capable drag buddy that is great in a sticky situation. In times during a hard climb where I may start to chicken out, Wally is sure to egg me onto the finish. He’s also extremely competitive, pushing people to excel and do their very best.
Ferb Fletcher: Ferb is full of surprises. He is the brother of Phineas is one my all time favorite shows, Phineas and Ferb. While he is a man of almost no words, he unwaveringly supports Phineas, and is an integral part of all their insane endeavors. He is the perfect craft partner, because he’s dependable, and able to handle just about anything. He and Phineas are constantly coming up with new ways to avoid boredom, and they may just be the best ever at it. I’m sure a summer day at the crag with Ferb would never be a dull one. Not to mention, he is explicitly seen doing extremely hard, and highly rated climbing throughout the show, including “climbing up the Eiffel Tower” In the shows theme

What would your Ultimate Squad look like?
