Pistons vs Timberwolves pt. 13

Let’s talk skills challenge on Pistons vs Timberwolves players. Now this subject is good because with the two different formats the skills challenge has had in its time during all star weekends. Here’s a brief review of the two different formats of the skills challenge over the years.

Traditional Skills Challenge (2003–2021)

Players raced through an obstacle course that tested:

  1. Ball handling – dribble through a series of obstacles/cones.
  2. Passing – make an accurate pass through a target.
  3. Finishing – complete a layup at the basket.
  4. Perimeter shooting – make a three-pointer from the top of the key.
  5. Speed and agility – complete the course faster than the opponents

Here the other format:

Team Skills Challenge (2022–2025)

The NBA changed the format to teams. Events included:

  • Team relay obstacle course
  • Passing challenges through targets
  • Shooting challenges from multiple spots
  • Additional specialty rounds such as half-court shots in some years

Now here’s some players from each of our teams that have competed in the two different formats and how they did.

Pistons

  • Cade Cunningham (2022) – Participant
  • Jaden Ivey (2023) – Participant
  • Andre Drummond (2018) – Participant
  • Brandon Knight (2013) – Participant

Timberwolves

  • Karl-Anthony Towns (2016) – Champion
  • Anthony Edwards (2024) – Participant (3rd place team finish)

I think it would be cool to add all these players back in for a good Pistons vs Timberwolves skills challenge.I personally love having a champion of the skills challenge already on the Timberwolves with Towns, but shocked when Cade didn’t win it in 2022! Imagine a team format of Timberwolves players of Anthony Edwards, Karl- Anthony Towns, and Kevin Garnett against a Pistons team of

Cade Cunningham, Chauncey Billups, and Richard Hamilton! That is a matchup for the ages. I honestly don’t know who would win, but it would get lots of views! Tell me what you think in the comments below!
