2026 madness…
So far I’m not impressed with the Pistons or Timberwolves draft picks or trades this year.
I’m not asking for either team to get a huge superstar but I expect both teams to have picked up some good team oriented or defense playmakers. For the Timberwolves and Pistons we traded away some important big man down low that made a difference in the post on scoring and defense. Here’s a recap of what each team has done so far…
Minnesota Timberwolves
2026 NBA Draft
- No. 28: Isaiah Evans (wing) after moving into the first round.
- No. 33: Isaiah Watts (guard), acquired via trade.
Major trades
- Traded Julius Randle to create cap flexibility.
- Acquired LaMelo Ball from the Hornets in a blockbuster trade that also sent Naz Reid and draft assets to Charlotte. The move gives Anthony Edwards an All-Star point guard running mate.
Key additions
- LaMelo Ball
- Draft picks Isaiah Evans and Isaiah Watts
Detroit Pistons
2026 NBA Draft
- No. 17: Ebuka Okorie (guard)
- No. 21: Pick acquired from Minnesota through an earlier swap.
Major trades
As part of a six-team trade, Detroit:
- Acquired: John Collins, Taurean Prince, and Gary Harris.
- Traded away: Isaiah Stewart, Caris LeVert, Marcus Sasser, plus draft compensation.
Free-agent moves
- Re-signed Kevin Huerter to a three-year deal.

Overall I would have rather not got LaMelo Ball for team chemistry and for him just thinking he is better than he really is. The Pistons losing Stewart is a big loss and Timberwolves trading away Randle was a huge loss for us! I hope both teams make more moves so hopefully we can have that Pistons vs Timberwolves NBA finals Carrot and I have been hoping for!
