Climbing Music!

sensitive subject…

Climbing gym music is such a sensitive topic to a lot of people. I’ve been working at a climbing gym for five years in December and I’ve heard it all when it comes to the music that plays not only for staff but most importantly members and guests. Now I’m pretty open personally on music I like to pretty much listen to everything while I’m climbing as hip hop, country, rock, pop, alternative and classic rock. I’m not a jazz or Christian music guy, but I wouldn’t judge anybody option while they are climbing! I’ve worked with staff that put it on and trust me they heard from members that it’s not the vibe and I am with them. That really is not made for the climbing gym! I would say classic rock is the safest bet when it comes to gym climbing music though it’s got a lot of well known hits no matter what the age is, it’s family friendly for the young kids coming in and it’s just overall the safest bet for having no complaint from guests or members. Now sometimes we like to change it up depending on the members moods and some like one genre than another which I completely understand. If I had to pick an order for most popular for the gym I work at it’s…

1. Classic Rock
2. Alternative
3. Rock
4. 90’s-2000’s Pop
5. 80’s Pop/Rock

Now this is just my personal from my time picking music not only for myself to jam out too on shift but for the members climbing also to make them happy.

But let’s be honest it’s a lose/lose scenario because like I said at the beginning not everybody is going to like the music chosen!

They may like the genre but not that day while they are climbing! So now I want to hear from you, what is your go to music genre? And why?
